Mnuchin says Treasury won’t fulfill Democrats’ time constraint for Trump’s expenses

The Treasury Division won’t comply with House Democrats’ time constraint of Wednesday to hand over President Donald Trump’s assessment forms, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said.

In a letter to Rep. Richard Neal, D-Mass., executive of the Available resources Board of trustees, Mnuchin said the Treasury was proceeding to survey Democrats’ solicitation in light of “major issues” about whether the solicitation is appropriate.

Neal said in a concise proclamation just that he had gotten Mnuchin’s letter and that he was counseling with lawful advice, promising a reaction “in the coming days.”

Neal recorded a formal solicitation with the Treasury Office for the reports a week ago, saying, “I am sure we are inside our real authoritative, legitimate and oversight rights.”
